Lti Maafushivaru Maldives

If you’re in search of ‘Paradise on Earth,’ Lti Maafushivaru Maldives will not fall short of providing you with that feeling. Located in the Southern Ari atolls, this resort has some of the most crystal clear waters with amazing sea life.

If your idea of a luxurious vacation is being surrounded by teal, turquoise waters on an over-water bungalow, then this is one island resort that should be on your bucket list! We spent our honeymoon here and had the most amazing time and brought back a lifetime of memories.

| GETTING THERE |

We live in San Francisco so we took a flight from SFO airport to DBX in Dubai, UAE.  From Dubai, we took another short 4-hour flight to Hulhumale airport.

You do not have to have a visa to travel to the Maldives but if you wish, you can apply for a visa for up to 30 days upon arrival.

Next, we were greeted by the hotel transfer staff at the airport where we were then taken to the lounge to await our flight to the resort. The lounge was really nice and they offered refreshments and complimentary Wi-Fi.  We took a seaplane to our resort which was 25 minutes away. You also have the option of taking a speedboat which can be shared or a ferry which is called a Dhoni (a traditional Maldivian boat) to your destination.

| SERVICES AND FACILITIES |

From the moment we were welcomed to the moment we left, the service was outstanding. The staff were always friendly, accommodating and willing to go the extra mile for us. We created bonds with the staff in the short time that we were there and we still keep in touch till today. A special shoutout to the duty manager, reception, and the crew from the main restaurant as well as all the housekeeping staff.  These people were exceptional!

Some of the really cool facilities we utilized were the library lounge, complimentary Wi-Fi, infinity fibre-optic lit swimming pool and the boutique where we bought a couple of souvenirs for our family. They also have a spa and a gym and they offer a range of snorkelling, diving, tours of various island resorts and cruises. We went on a romantic sunset cruise with dolphin watching on one of the nights which was no less than magical!

| DINING |

They have the main restaurant where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served buffet style but you can opt for a la carte options as well.  They also have a Japanese restaurant right on the water as shown below. You can also book a private dinner on the beach as you watch the sunset. Oh, I wish I could go back right at this moment.

You can also book a private dinner on the beach as you watch the sunset. You will be able to pick the location as well as curate your special menu with the chefs for your dinner. I’m don’t think it’ll get better than that!

  | VILLAS |

Maafushivaru Island Resort has three types of villas. They have 22 over-water villas, two pool villas and  24 beach villas.  We experienced both the over-water villa as well as the beach villa where we woke up and walked right up to the beach each morning.  The room decor was amazing. It was minimalist chic with traditional Maldivian accents. Our room was very spacious with plenty of light and air to circulate through. Every morning we would wake up to the sound of the ocean, birds and the rays of the beautiful sun.

 | ACTIVITIES |

Maafushivaru Island Resort offers a variety of activities from snorkelling to deep sea diving and everything in between. We went on a diving excursion to see whale sharks as well as dolphin watching during sunset. Our favourite activity was snorkelling and we loved it so much that we did not go a day without it. They also have Maldivian night where you get to experience the local cuisine, dance, lifestyle and arts and crafts. We had so much fun that night and it’s definitely one for the books.

| SUMMARY of the MAAFUSHIVARU ISLAND RESORT |

We had an amazingly breathtaking romantic getaway at this resort. The atmosphere at the resort was always warm and friendly.  We tried a variety of delicious cuisines from all around the world. Experienced gorgeous sunrises and sunsets each day with white sands and azure waters. No sight of tall buildings or sounds of cars, just the gentle breeze of the Indian ocean.
