Palm Springs Door Tour 2024 (11 Colorful Doors You Shouldn’t Miss)

Looking for something fun to do in Palm Springs? Why not take a self-guided tour of all the colorful doors in the city? Palm Springs is home to many mid-century modern homes, and most of them have some pretty amazing doors. It’s as if ‘aesthetics’ were born here!

A few months ago Waseem and I went to Palm Springs and stumbled upon the Indian Canyon Neighborhood. We did our own self-guided tour of many of the colorful doors of the gorgeous mid-century modern homes of Palm Springs. #doortraits, please. Yes, it’s a thing!

We initially set out to find ‘That Pink Door’ (which is an IG hot spot), but we quickly realized how many more colorful doors there were! And there we were driving around for hours taking in all the beauty of these Palm Springs homes.

In this post, we will give you a list of all the colorful doors we visited along with a downloadable map! You’re welcome.

Palm Springs Door Tour: That Yellow Door

The first door on our list is ‘That Yellow Door’, which is located on Yosemite Drive. This door is our favorite color (the dress is proof) and really pops against the white house and green foliage!

If you’re driving around looking for this door, keep your eyes peeled for a white house with several palm trees as a backdrop. You won’t miss this pop of color!

Teal and Pink Twins

These colorful doors are a set of twins, one pink and one teal. We love how these colors work together and really brighten up the street!

They are further away from the street, but we had to be respectful and shoot from the side of the street as these are personal properties.

We later realized our zoom lens would’ve been better for photos here.

That Pink Door

‘That Pink Door’ is an Instagram hot spot! This is probably one of the most popular doors in Palm Springs, and for good reason! It’s a beautiful shade of pink and it’s just so darn photogenic.

There are ‘No Photography signs by the front door so we stayed clear and took some photos from the street. The photos still came out great! You just have to think outside the door…I mean box 😉

The home is actually a vacation rental, so if you’re ever in Palm Springs and want to stay in a mid-century modern home, this is the place to stay! Just make sure to book well in advance because it’s usually pretty booked up.

The Party Lions

The Lion House is located just a few properties down from the Pink Door Palm Springs. Two enormous white Chinese lions are on either side of the entrance, and they’re frequently adorned with floaties.

Sometimes the owners decorate the lions with party balloons, hence the name “Party Lions.” The owners are usually known to decorate their lions with specific decorations during important weeks such as festivals and holidays. So, if you’re ever in Palm Springs during one of these celebrations, make sure to check out the Party Lions!

Palm Leaves Door

Aesthetically pleasing? Absolutely! This $8 million house has one of the most attractive doors we’ve ever seen, which resembles giant palm leaves. Flowers also adorn the front yard, adding to the appeal of the home. Vibe check ✅

Lime Green Door

The ‘Lime Green Door’ is hidden but once spotted, it’s the most unique pop of bright lime color! This door reminded us of green popsicles that we used to have back in Fiji.

The Teal Door

If you’re looking for a door that reminds you of the beautiful ocean, then you’ll want to check out the Teal Door. This door is located on Via Lazo and it’s such a pretty shade of teal with gold cylindrical handles.

The house itself is also super cute and we love the desert landscaping. This is definitely one of our favorite doors in Palm Springs!

Teal Door #2 and #3

You’ll come across many homes with the same color doors that you might get confused about which one is which, just like we did!

Since we don’t know the precise address for some of these spots, it will be more enjoyable for you to explore the area and discover some one-of-a-kind ones on your own. After all, what’s the fun in knowing everything beforehand!

That Orange Door

This door is definitely a head-turner! It’s located on East Avenida Granada and it’s such a pretty shade of orange.

We love the cutout design of this door and the fact that it’s so brightly colored. This would be the perfect door to photograph in the afternoon sun!

That Keylime Door (previously orange)

This door is located on a street corner in Palm Springs and it’s such a fun shade of keylime green! We love the contrast of the green against the white walls of the house. A few years ago, this door was orange so don’t be confused when see the orange version in some photos.

If you’re looking for a photo-op, this is definitely the door for you! Just make sure to be respectful of the residents and don’t disturb them.

How To Get Around

Many of these Palm Springs Door Tour properties are in the Indian Canyon neighborhood. While not all of them have colorful doors, the majority of them are still beautiful!

We just drove around with our google maps in 107-degree weather (bad idea, but totally worth it!) and stopped whenever we would see a colorful door that we wanted to photograph.

If you’re staying in the area, consider booking a room at one of Palm Springs’ classic colorful hotels, such as Saguaro. They usually have hotel bikes which you can use to wander around and luckily the streets have wide bike lanes so it wouldn’t be difficult to maneuver with cars.

We would’ve opted for bikes but we didn’t feel like dying of heatstroke in the middle of summer!

What time is best to the Palm Springs Door Tour?

The light in Palm Springs is stunning, especially during the last few hours of dusk. We started our self-guided Palm Springs door tour around 3 pm when the light was a bit harsher but this gave us enough time to explore more homes and our photos still turned out stunning.

If you’re interested in taking the tour, there are a few things you’ll need to know. First, most of the homes are private residences, so please be respectful if you visit them. Second, many of the homes are not open to the public, but you can certainly drive by or walk up the sidewalk like we did and take all your photos from a respectful distance.

The Palm Springs Door Tour is another great way to see some of the area’s most iconic architecture if you’re not into a self-guided tour.

PS: If you want to see more than just doors, the Palm Springs Modernism Week offers tours of both public and private mid-century modern homes.

Remember, Wherever You Go, Don’t Forget to Wander :). Happy Door Touring!
