Railay is a secluded paradise that boasts some of the most breathtaking coastlines in Thailand. It turned out to be one of our absolute favorite spots in the region! Famous for its towering limestone karsts that dramatically rise from the emerald-green waters, Railay is a must-visit destination.

Accessible only by boat, it has an exclusive charm that adds to its allure. Despite its remote feel, Railay is compact—crossing the peninsula on foot takes just 10 minutes! The highlights are Railay Beach, a haven for relaxation, and Phra Nang Beach, with its stunning scenery and the iconic Princess Cave.

To make the most of your visit, head there early in the morning to avoid the crowds, as Phra Nang Beach can get busy quickly due to its size.

Tip: Grab a drink at one of the local cafes to avoid using plastic cups and help keep this beautiful spot pristine!

Tip: For a more peaceful beach experience, head to Noppharat Thara Beach, just a 5-minute walk from Ao Nang Beach, where the atmosphere is quieter and more relaxed!

If you’re visiting, make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring plenty of water, as the pools require a bit of walking to reach.

How to get to Krabi, Thailand

Krabi is incredibly well-connected to major destinations in Thailand, making it easy to reach by bus, boat, or airplane. Due to its popularity, we recommend booking your tickets a bit in advance to secure your spot!

Flights to Krabi
The most convenient way to get to Krabi is by air. For example, you can take a direct 1.5-hour flight from Bangkok to Krabi, which saves a lot of travel time. Alternatively, if you’re up for an overland adventure, you can take a train from Bangkok to Surat Thani, followed by a 2-hour van ride to Krabi.

If you prefer flexibility, consider renting a car and driving through Thailand! We recommend booking locally for the most affordable rates. There are bike and car rental companies scattered throughout the town.

Tip: The further away you get from the main strip, the better the deals get.

Ao Nang is the most popular spot in Krabi, and it’s easy to see why. It’s also super handy for exploring nearby spots like Railay Beach, which is just a short boat ride away. Whenever we’re in Krabi, Ao Nang is always our top choice. We stayed at Centara Life Phu Pano Resort Krabi for 2 weeks and then moved to B2 Krabi Ao Nang Premier Resort for 2 more weeks. B2 was our favorite for their service, cleanliness and overall privacy.
