Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel

Think of the biggest little city and what comes to mind is bright neon lights with gamblers betting their hand in challenging Lady Luck. But, there’s more to Reno than just bright flashing lights. Rich in arts and culture, Reno offers something for everyone.

As a professional working couple in Silicon Valley, we needed a getaway.  The easiest and fastest option was Reno!  We decided to set off to Reno one afternoon right after work to experience some R&R over the hill.

Set right on the Truckee River, Renaissance Reno provided us with the perfect winter getaway that we were looking forward to. Without the hustle and bustle and craziness of casinos, we were greeted with a peaceful stay on the river. After checking in, we headed straight for dinner at their contemporary on-site restaurant, the Shore Room. The meals that we ordered exceeded our expectations and sent us into a major food coma but we couldn’t step away without trying their most popular dessert called galaktoboureko. There was live music in a separate lounge area and we enjoyed our dessert while listening to music and mingling with the fluffiest dog we had ever seen. Our night was complete but we had a full day of exploring the next day.

WHAT WE LOVED

  • Location. Renaissance Reno is minutes away from Reno-Tahoe International Airport. It is also walking distance from so many arts, cultural and entertainment locations.  They also provide access to the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and the Reno Events Center for business travellers.
  • Live Music Wednesday through Saturday
  • The outdoor fire pits that set a romantic mood on a cold night
  • Modern, chic decor with floor to ceiling glass windows facing the Truckee River and the mountains.
  • Free high-speed Wi-Fi
  • Plug-in media panels. A lifesaver when you have a ton of electronics to charge.
  • Plush bedding which made it hard to get up in the mornings.
  • The Shore, Renaissance Reno’s on-site restaurant with delicious Greek and Mediterranean cuisine where they also serve their daily breakfast. Their staff was outstanding and went above and beyond to cater not only to us but everyone around.
  • Pet-friendly. No need to leave your furry friends at home. I seriously wish I had a pup to take along for the getaway.  They offer an amazing pet package that includes the pet fee, pet bowls, and a doggie treat welcome amenity.  You can also create a dog tag for your dog to wear or add it to their wall of dog tags in their lobby. This is such a cool and creative way to bond with your pet at a hotel!
  • Indoor and outdoor Bocce Ball Court and Bar.  No need to seek entertainment outdoors if you feel like staying in or have an early morning business meeting.
  • 24-hour fitness center to get your workouts in while travelling.
